A collection of reference images that inspired the design for the show.
Set in New York, 1985 against the grim backdrop of the AIDS crisis, a key theme that stood out to me was the disparity between the LGBTQ+ community and the wealthy Wall Street republicans and yuppies of the period.

After reading the script, I created some response sketches of specific scenes, to start visualizing what these moments could look like onstage. I shared these with the director and the set designer and we found these a useful starting point in our initial meetings.
Creating a detailed costume plot breaking down each scene, the location, time of day, season and characters in the scene helped to get a sense of what kind of costumes were required and where any changes would need to happen.
I set up a Miro board to communicate ideas, share references and collaborate remotely with the director and set designer to create a cohesive vision.
I created detailed, illustrated costume plots which were used in the costume department and the rehearsal room to work out changes.
I also used the costume drawings in a costume breakdown itemizing each piece of costume needed for each character.
