The process of creating a corset from scratch helped me to gain the following skills:

• Taking measurements needed for a corset

• Drafting a pattern block based on the measurements

• Working with an African wax print cotton

• Drawing out the pattern pieces

• Pattern cutting and matching

• Basting stitch to tack the pieces together

• Creating boning channels 

• Stitching the pieces together 

• Inserting the busk

• Inserting eyelets 

• Fitting the corset and making any adjustments necessary

• Finishing with binding
